The Future of Health Care: Mississippi Health Care Update Luncheon Feb. 14

OXFORD – The Oxford Pachyderm Club will hold its first meeting of 2018 tackling the current state of health care in the nation and Mississippi.

Now that tax cuts are headed to Mississippians, what is being done to  provide Magnolia State residents more affordable health care?

Bob Williams, director of the Life & Health Actuarial Division in the

Mississippi Insurance Department, will answer that question as he brings a health care update February 14, 2018.

“We have got to fix access and accountability for Health Care,” Commissioner Chaney said. “To do this we must return more regulatory authority to the states. Increased State decision-making and authority will allow for better oversight of benefit designs and flexibility, rate review, network adequacy and overall management of healthcare needs and costs. “

The Oxford Pachyderm Club luncheon will meet at the Kabuki Restaurant located at 1631 W Jackson, Oxford.

“Through the so-called Affordable Care Act (ACA), thousands of Mississippians have health care they can’t afford to use,” said Russ Jones, Oxford Pachyderm Club founding president. “Our club looks forward to hearing what efforts are being done to bring more health care options to Mississippi.”

The cost is $18 per person (members). A discounted rate of $10 per person is provided for college students. To RSVP email or register online at

The Oxford Pachyderm Club is formally recognized by the Republican National Committee. There are over sixty Pachyderm clubs across the US. The Oxford Pachyderm Club is the first chapter in Mississippi.
